Deccan Odyssey
The
Train is scheduled in such a way that it travels through the night so that guests
get to relax in 5-star comfort and arrive fresh the next morning at the next halt,
to explore the destination during the day.
Breakfast and dinner will
be served on board while lunch will be provided at the destination. Only on the
final day will lunch be served on the train adn dinner at the Taj Residency Nasik.
Tickets for the train are priced at US$ 350 per head per day and are all-inclusive,
except for the drinks and use of the health spa.
Catering and housekeeping
on the Deccan Odyssey have been contracted to the Taj Group of hotels.
"Our priority is to sell the full 7-day package but we will consider the
option of also selling segments of the journey based on the availability of seats,"
says Singh.
The 21-coach train will have 13 saloons with 5-star facilities
that will accommodate 96 passengers, two restaurants, a bar, conference room,
health spa, staff accommodation and two generator cars. Each passenger saloon
car comprsing of four compartments will accommodate two, making a total of eight
to a carriage.
All saloons have a common lounge with a flat screen TV
and the rooms are fitted with 5-star convenience including attached baths and
toilets. The interior design of each coach has been inspired by the site or monument
after which it has been named.

Day 01 :
Wednesday Departure in the evening from Chhatripatei Shivaji Terminus
Mumbai.
Day 02 : Thursday Morning - Arrival at Bhoke Railway
Station. Reach Rai Bhatgaon Jetty by AC bus for Back Water Cruise up to historical
fort Jaigad. Board the bus to explore finest beach along the Konkan coast. Free
time & lunch at Ganapatipule beach resort. Noon board the bus for sight seeing
tour of Ratnagiri town. Visit to Ratnadurg Fort, Lokmanaya Tilak Smarak and free
time in Ratnagiri Bazar. Board the train at Ratnagiri Railway station.
Day 03 : Friday Morning-Arrival at Sindhudurg Nagari Railway station.
Departure by AC Bus to Malvan Jetty to witness Sindhudurg Sea Fort From Jetty
proceed to Tarkarli beach resort for lunch & free time. After lunch Back Water
Cruise through the Tarkarli creek up to Kale Jetty followed by visit to Sawantwadi
town by bus to witness fabulous lacquer handicrafts, paintings and furniture at
the "Shiipagrama" in the town. Late in the evening board the train at
Sawantwadi railway station.
Day 04 : Saturday Morning arrival at Karmali - Goa. The most
frequented tourist spot in India. Board the bus to reach Old Goa to witness. Basilica
De Born Jesus, Se Cathedral, Se Cathedral and the Church of St. Francis of Assissi,
that began as a mosque but new is an archaeological museum for Goan antiques.
Proceed to Panjim by bus. Free time for short walk in city and bazaar followed
by lunch at Fort Aguada Beach Resort. After lunch visit to Dona Paula & 250
years old House. Late in the evening board the train from Madgaon railway station.
Day 05 : Sunday Morning - Arrival at Pune, the Erstwhile
Capital of Maharashtra. Board the bus to visit; Maharashtra Phule Mandai, the
old central market. Raja Dinkar Kalkar Museum houses variety of artifacts of the
17th, 18th & 19th Centuries. Sir David Sasoon Synagogues built in 1867. The
Osho International Commune is on of the biggest centre for mediation and spiritual
growth. Lunch & free time at Hotel Le Meridian. The Tribal Musuem having collection
of 2000 rare and precious articles related to tribal life. Aga Khan Palace, a
place where Mahatma Gandhi was incarcerated during freedom struggle presently
converted in to a Museum dedicated to Gandhi family. Witness Sound and Light show
at Shaniwarwada. Late in the evening board the train from Pune railway station
Day 06 : Monday Morning
arrival at Aurangabad station. Proceed by road to witness. Historical fort Daulatabad,
Ellora caves, a world Heritage site, having 34 cave temples dedicated to three
different religion - Hinduism, Buddhism & Jaisism. Lunch & Cultural programme
at Hote Taj. After lunch visit to; Shivaji Museum with weapons & antique from
the great Maratha Empire. Aurangabad Caves No. 7 & 8, Bibi-ka-Maqbara, a replica
of Taj Mahal is a grand piece of Moghul architecture. Free time for shopping Paithani,
Himroo, Bidriwork from showrooms for a perfect memorabilia. Late in the evening
board the train from Aurangabad railway station.
Day 07 : Tuesday
Morning arrival at Jalgaon railway station. Board the bus to rech Fardapur resort.
After break fast proceed to visit renowned Buddhist caves of Ajanata a World Heritage
Site to witness some of the finest paintings and sculptures of the second century
AD. At noon board the train at Bhusawal railway station. Proceed to Nashik. Lunch-on-board.
Arrival at Nashik railway station. Departure to visit Panchawati Ghat and Sula
Winery Yard. Wine & dine at the winery yard. Late in the evening board the
train at Nashik railway station.
Day 08 : Wednesday Arrival
at at CST - Mumbai. Journey Ends.

Train Schedule CANCELLATION
(i) Cancellation must be advised by Fax/E-mail/Letter to the Central
Reservation Devision at Head Office, Mumbai.
(ii) Rs. 300/- if
the request is received before 60 days.
(iii) 20% of Ticket Value
if cancellation is received within the period of 24-44 days from schedule date
of departure.
(iv) 50% of ticket value if cancellation request
is received within the period of 8-23 days from schedule date of departure.
(v) 100% of ticket value if cancellation request is received within
the period of 7 days or before the schedule date of departure.
